A Brief Overview:
Coordinate the daily shift activities and provision of employee assistance in order to perform job functions. Responsible for planning and organizing the daily shift activities of the EEG technicians. Ensures that department standards in patient care, departmental performance improvements and budgetary compliance are adhered to by staff.

What you will do:
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served. This includes knowledge of the physical and psychological needs of patients served and the ability to respond appropriately to those needs.
  • Develops written and oral education presentations for technical staff. Assist Manager in writing with policies and procedures; implements department policies and protocol; monitors technical staff to assure appropriate use and application of recording and monitoring procedures. Oversees opportunities for continuous improvements of process and services as an on going basis. Leadership responsibilities such as lead technologist duties.
  • Performs long term monitoring for epilepsy; must be highly skilled in pattern recognition; responsible for identifying critical segments out of many hours of data and providing a condensed, organized version of significant events to interpreting physician. Performs and scans ambulatory data both visually and orally. Selects portions of data on what is seen and heard and also on subjective reports by patient or caregiver. This condensed data is then passed onto the electroencephalographer for clinical interpretation.
  • Performs EEG testing on patients according to established guidelines: Reviews and analyzes patients' medical history to determine appropriate EEG procedures and recognize symptoms or responses during testing. Orients patients to the procedure, positions patients, attaches electrodes to pre-determined positions, instructs patients' relaxation techniques and elicits cooperation. Prepares raw data for physician review and interpretation, inputs pertinent patient data in the acquisition system, identify the appropriate test performed and performs the appropriate troubleshooting techniques to improve overall study quality and reduce the presence of artifact or interference. Documents any unusual occurrences during study, annotates any changes that occurs during recording and includes a summary of the study.
  • Assists in preparing EMG's by cleaning and organizing room, preparing patient for test, assisting with procedure as directed and completing patient charges or bills, and so forth.
  • Maintains a variety of logs and records. In doing so, records activity in log books and Quality Assurance records, delivers requisitions to medical records, and ensures dictated reports are copied and delivered according to established procedures
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area. Orders routine supplies, cleans and performs minor calibration and maintenance on equipment and refers difficult equipment problems to senior department personnel.
  • Performs related clerical duties such as scheduling patients, answering telephones, taking and relaying messages, completing patient charges or bills, filing records, etc.
  • Prepares call schedule and delivers to established departments (ICU, CCU, Nursing Supervisor, and Communications. Coordinates pediatric EEG's with Pediatric RN for pediatrics sedation.
  • Performs Hearing Screenings, hearing screening charges, and document patient information on Hi Track system.
  • Transfers all EEG data to reader's station, archives, and transfers EEG data onto CD's.
  • Participates in department monthly projects and process improvement plans.
  • Coordinates daily shift activities Adjusts daily shift work assignments due to increase/decrease of workloads, staffing surplus/insufficiencies and/or unexpected events. Provides assistance to staff by resolving problems with procedures and/or equipment. Assists and updates department manager in resolving patient, physician and/or nursing complaints and reports all such incidents to the Department Manager or designee. Assists in completing patient testing and administrative duties in the event of changing work situations. Ensures the completion of the Daily Shift Report record. Maintains the inventory of the department supplies. Assists the department manager in completing performance evaluations. Regulates the allocation of overtime hours daily
  • Solicits feedback of customer needs by performing ongoing assessment/interview of internal and external customers. Reviews customer satisfaction survey results with department manager. Responds to and resolves patient, customer and employee complaints in a timely fashion. Holds staff accountable for customer service standards of performance and guidelines for communication/
  • Assists with the implementation of area/shift operational budgets. Maintains efficient utilization of staff, equipment and supplies. Participates in cost containment activities. Reports any projected or unexpected variances in operational expenses to the Department Manager.
  • Assists with the evaluation of current and new equipment, supplies and facilities utilizes literature, external resources, internal input.

What you will need:
  • 5+ Years of experience in Electroneurodiagnostics inclusive of performing tests on infants, children and adults
  • Ability to perform an assortment of Electroneurodiagnostics procedures
  • Knowledge of the following computer equipment required: EEG, EMG, and Hearing/Screening equipment
  • BLS - Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) - American Heart Association (AHA) If not registered, must become registered within twenty-four months of employment. Required And
  • Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R.EEG T) - ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation (ABRET) Required
