Find out more here: http://smhs.gwu.edu/ This senior position is typically responsible for all communication and marketing for a moderate to large or complex unit. This role works with leadership and other constituents to communicate and market the unit's initiatives, programs, accomplishments and goals in order to raise profile and awareness of the unit among the community, both internally and externally. Typically this role will participate in the development and execution of the strategic communication and marketing plan for the unit, will execute the marketing and outreach for programs and events, will ensure consistent communication with GW's desired image, brand and positioning throughout all communications, and is responsible for the development, maintenance, updating, and writing of the website, newsletter, publications, social media, and other materials. This role serves as liaison with media relations, and coordinates with the university on communications activities to ensure a consistent and efficient approach to events, initiatives, outreach and communication

Position Duties:

  • Produce and optimize design, readability, and utility of two monthly newsletters for cancer control and clinical stakeholders.
  • Provide updates to Cancer Awareness Toolkits by reviewing evidence from the last three years in the scientific literature, guidelines, reports, and coordinating with relevant national organizations; update toolkits using the WordPress application.
  • Oversee overall social media strategy by designing and producing social media content and scheduling twice-daily social media messaging to increase dissemination of public service messaging and technical assistance resources nationally.
  • Create communication templates, presentations, press releases and other materials as models for state comprehensive cancer control programs to adapt.
  • Manage and update the Technical Assistance Program (TAP website) using wordpress including running website analytics and creating strategies for improved accuracy and utility.
  • Edit and review content, including guides, toolkits and online training content.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Hiring Range $64,483.58 - $106,415.52
