Summary of Job Duties:The Extension Assistant Specialist will support the mission of the School of Agriculture,
Fisheries, and Human Sciences (SAFHS) by assisting with agricultural research, demonstrations,
and outreach initiatives at the Agriculture Demonstration Outreach Center (ADOC) in Marianna,
Arkansas. This position plays a key role in delivering hands-on education, supporting research-based programming, and engaging with producers, community members, and stakeholders to
advance agricultural practices and promote sustainable farming in the Delta region.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Assist with planning, establishing, and maintaining agricultural research plots and demonstration
projects.
* Operate and maintain farm equipment, machinery, and tools in support of research and outreach
activities.
* Collect, record, and organize data from research trials; prepare summaries and assist with
technical reports.
* Support the development and delivery of educational programs, workshops, and field days for
farmers, youth, and community groups.
* Collaborate with faculty, extension personnel, and external partners to promote best practices in
agriculture and demonstrate emerging technologies.
* Maintain organized records of field activities, equipment usage, and program participation.
* Provide on-site assistance to visitors, producers, and stakeholders at the ADOC.
* Perform physical fieldwork, including lifting up to 50 pounds, working outdoors, and assisting
with manual labor tasks as needed.
* Contribute to outreach materials such as fact sheets, presentations, and program evaluations.
* Ensure adherence to university, state, and federal safety and operational standards.

Location: Agriculture Demonstration Outreach Center (ADOC), Marianna, Arkansas Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

A degree in agriculture or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience or coursework demonstrating technical knowledge in agricultural operations, research methods, or educational outreach. Professional Experience Requirements

* Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in agriculture-related fields such as research, farm operations, or extension education.

* Demonstrated ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain modern farm equipment and tools.

* Experience managing or supporting research plots, data collection, or field trials. * Proven experience working with diverse communities in agricultural or rural settings.

* Strong organizational abilities with experience maintaining accurate records and generating clear reports.

* Proficiency in operating tractors, implements, small engines, and other farm tools.

* Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities in an active field and outreach environment.

* Experience developing, facilitating, or evaluating agricultural education programs.
