Lead, Oncology Field Excellence and Operations

The Lead, Field Excellence and Operations is responsible for driving operational excellence within Oncology Field Medical teams. The Lead will oversee field medical operations, ensure alignment with organizational goals, refine systems and processes, and provide coaching and team development for direct reports. Additionally, the role supports compliance, resource optimization, innovative initiatives, and budget management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure alignment and compliance of field medical operations with organizational strategies and external scientific exchange policies.

  • Develop and maintain operational frameworks while continuously evaluating and refining bestinclass processes and implementing innovative solutions to enhance field medical efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Implement innovative processes and share best practices to optimize field execution across brands and pipeline assets.

  • Oversee CRM and analytics data flows: manage operational input/output between CRM systems (e.g., Veeva CRM) and analytical tools to ensure reliable, timely capture and availability of customer interaction data for monitoring and analysis.

  • Lead oncology field operations and framework design: set requirements and standards for field-level data capture, drive development of dashboards, and create measurement frameworks to define goals, metrics, and program impact specific to oncology.

  • Own reporting, KPI tracking, and enablement: define reporting frameworks and KPIs for field initiatives, track progress against objectives, deliver regular leadership summaries and insights, and provide action-oriented dashboards that enable targeted field coaching.

  • Drive training to foster digital fluency and proficiency with tools like GenAI, PowerBI, and field systems.

  • Partner with field leaders to identify training needs and deliver innovative solutions to enhance skills and competencies to support MSL excellence.

  • Provide people leadership, coaching, and development to direct reports.

  • Act as a matrix partner across Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations, and Commercial to support operational excellence and ensure cross-functional strategies and initiatives are coordinated with clear implementation and accountabilities.

  • Lead annual budget and strategic planning processes for field medical teams.

  • Ensure adherence to established policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Advanced scientific/clinical degree (MS, RN, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent).

  • 5+ years pharmaceutical industry experience, including in field medical operations or medical affairs.

  • Three or more years of experience in project management and strategic operations.

  • Three or more years in a leadership role, including people management or matrix leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of industry experience in oncology or field medical roles.

  • Familiarity with systems and tools such as Veeva CRM, GenAI, and PowerBI.

  • Strong analytical, collaborative, and problem-solving skills in a matrix environment.

Travel Expectations:

  • Ability to travel 15-20%
