DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for assessing the physical and driving qualifications of applicants, as well as inspecting vehicles to ensure they meet safety standards. Your tasks will include conducting vision tests, such as color perception and binocular assessments, and administering knowledge exams for both non-commercial and commercial driver licenses to confirm applicants' understanding of the Vehicle Code and traffic signs. You will also perform pre-trip, skills, and driving tests for non-commercial licenses, following departmental guidelines. Additionally, you will review applications and permits for inconsistencies or signs of fraud, determine vehicle specifications for testing, and check vehicles for safety compliance, including inspection stickers and working lights.
Furthermore, it is crucial to verify the authenticity of identity documents like birth certificates and Social Security cards. By using various systems and databases, you will confirm applicants' identities and their eligibility for driver's licenses or identification cards, while also identifying potential fraud and preventing identity theft. A key aspect of your role will involve processing test results and applications, which leads to issuing driver's licenses and identification cards to those who qualify. You will also provide information on services related to license renewals, duplicates, out-of-state transfers, and commercial licenses, including their specific restrictions and endorsements.
