Job Summary

The Coordinator of Student Life & Development within Student Experiences supports and coordinates comprehensive student involvement programs across FIU campus locations. The position oversees day to day programming, events, and student leadership initiatives; advises designated student organizations such as Spirit Programs or the Student Programming Council; and assists student leaders with budget development, event planning, and program logistics. The coordinator provides administrative, operational, and marketing support (including social media efforts), evaluates programming effectiveness, supports major departmental and university wide events, ensures compliance with departmental and university policies, and collaborates with internal and external partners.

  • Coordinates day to day programming, events, and student leadership initiatives facilitated by Student Experiences, primarily supporting the Student Programming Council (SPC) and assisting at FIU Campuses as needed.
  • Advises and supports student leaders in budget planning, program development, event logistics, and policy compliance for SPC and other assigned student groups.
  • Assists in managing social media and digital outreach efforts to promote programs, services, and student engagement initiatives.
  • Supports major Student Experiences programs and university wide events by coordinating logistics, communicating with vendors, assisting with risk management processes, and advising student and professional staff.
  • Works with leadership and student agencies & bureaus to coordinate space scheduling, negotiate and process contracts, complete safety and compliance forms, and oversee event related documentation.
  • Assists student organizations with purchasing event supplies from campus and external vendors.
  • Evaluates programs, gathers feedback, and makes recommendations to improve student involvement, event effectiveness, and departmental outcomes.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative partnerships with university departments and recommends new or expanded engagement initiatives.
  • Assists with the supervision, training, or guidance of graduate assistants, interns, or student staff assigned to Student Experiences.
  • Employee will have access to a third party system (software, gateway, etc.) that processes, transmits, and/or stores cardholder information. May handle cash/gift cards
  • Ensures compliance and alignment with university and department goals, policies and procedures.
  • May serve on Division-wide or University-wide committees and works closely with Student Life & Development and Division of Student Affairs leadership as needed.
  • Serves as the merchant account's primary contact or technical contact; Handles sensitive cardholder information and/or processes credit cards transactions for the department/unit; Will have access to a third party system (software, gateway, etc.) that processes, transmits, and/or stores cardholder information.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree.



Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in event management and coordination.
  • Experience engaging and supporting a wide variety of student populations.
  • Familiarity with university student engagement, event tracking, or campus management platforms.
