We are seeking an Optometry Residentto provide optometric care within scope of practice directly to patients, or through sub-specialty observation, in accordance with the published supervision policy and schedule.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • The resident is expected in clinic 4.5 days per week (0.9 FTE), time split over two hospital clinics and one satellite outpatient site.
  • Preparation for and participation in journal club, grand rounds, and other didactic requirements will occur in remaining 1/2 day per week (remaining 0.1 of FTE).
  • The resident is expected to submit an abstract or poster to the American Academy of Optometry, present at local continuing education conferences, and complete a manuscript of publishable quality before his or her matriculation from the residency program.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctor of Optometry degree from an ACOE accredited school or college of optometry.
  • Successful completion of Parts I, II, III and TMOD of the NBEO scores by February 1st, two months prior to beginning of the residency program.
  • Must have submitted State of Maryland Optometry license application prior to the beginning of the residency program.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
