THE POSITION

Are you prepared to provide effective supervision and leadership as part of a team who strives to ensure that all older adults across Pennsylvania can learn about and access the quality services and supports they need to age and live well? Apply for this Aging Services Supervisor position serving the Pennsylvania Department of Aging's Education and Outreach Office. Our team administers grant operations for and collaborates with a vast network of professionals and volunteers who strive to ensure that older people in Pennsylvania receive the information they need to make informed decisions, reduce their healthcare costs, and find community supported by volunteers. Help lead PDA's statewide education and outreach efforts with our team!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, your professional supervisory work in older adult services program and policy development will support a variety of grants and programs that make lasting, positive impacts in the lives of Pennsylvania's older and aging residents. You will be responsible for drafting and submitting grant applications and comprehensive reports; developing program budgets, business plans, program policy, and technical assistance documents; chairing and presenting at meetings; and monitoring grant expenditures.

Grants and programs supported by you and your team will include:

  • State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP). You will oversee and administer the operations of this federal grant which funds a network of 52 County Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs), SHIP Coordinators, and a workforce of approximately 300 volunteers. SHIP provides free, unbiased, local counseling to Medicare beneficiaries.
  • Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA) programming. You will oversee and administer the way this grant supports local SHIP programs that facilitate outreach efforts to identify, screen, and enroll eligible individuals. MIPPA focuses on improving Medicare's accessibility and affordability, particularly for low-income and rural beneficiaries.
  • Volunteer Engagement programming. You will supervise and participate in planning and coordination for volunteer activities and training, as well as recruitment retention and recognition efforts. These programs are designed to support older adults' independence while offering meaningful roles for volunteers.
  • The Health and Wellness Program. You will monitor and approve the usage of grants supporting professional teams engaged in providing health promotion and disease prevention programming to older adults. This program helps older adults live healthier lives, improve their quality of life, and lower overall healthcare costs.
