SOME (So Others Might Eat) provides material aid and comfort to our vulnerable neighbors in the District of Columbia, helping them to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness through programs and services that save lives, improve lives, and help to transform the lives of individuals and families, their communities, and the systems and structures that affect them. We meet immediate needs with food, clothing, and healthcare and offer the tools one needs to live with hope, dignity, and greater independence. Compensation: The Clinical Setting Addictions Counselor provides individual counseling, group facilitation, intake and assessment of clients in the addiction's treatment program. This position is located at Leland Place, which provides support for individuals looking to build independence and maintain sobriety. Leland Place is located on 45th Street in NE Washington, DC (across from the Benning Road metro on the blue line). Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm & 11:00 am - 7:00 pm (one evening shift per week) Qualifications Required: Master's degree in social work or counseling; or Certified Addictions Counselor DC License; 1-2 yrs experience providing addiction treatment or mental health services; experience providing services to homeless population Required License/Certification: Certified Addictions Counselor I or II or LGSW or LICSW or LPC from the District of Columbia Department of Health, CPR/First Aid Expected Contributions/Addiction Treatment Services:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Reports to: Program Manager - Single Site Position Designation: This position is designated as Safety Sensitive. You may be subject to drug testing prior to or during your employment with SOME. In this position, you may be disqualified from employment based on the presence of marijuana in test results, even if you possess a medical card authorizing the use of medical marijuana. Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Requires looking at a computer screen for several hours a day.
