Material Area Supervisor - Automotive Manufacturing

Location: Auburn Hills, MI

We are seeking a results-driven Material Area Supervisor to lead material handling and logistics operations in a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment. This role is critical to ensuring efficient material flow, inventory accuracy, and production support while driving continuous improvement using World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop hourly material handling teams to achieve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale targets
• Oversee material receiving, storage, line delivery, and inventory control
• Ensure on-time material flow to support production schedules
• Coordinate daily operations and resolve logistics and workflow issues
• Support and implement WCM and lean manufacturing initiatives
• Build strong relationships with union employees, leadership, and cross-functional teams
• Partner with management on staffing, training, and performance management

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Proven leadership experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or logistics environments
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team development skills
• Ability to work 1st and 2nd shifts, including rotation as needed

Preferred Experience

• Background in a unionized environment
• Experience with lean manufacturing or WCM methodologies

Schedule

• 1st Shift: 5:00 AM - 2:00 PM
• 2nd Shift: 2:30 PM - 11:30 PM
