Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Coordinator I for the Division of Access and Community Engagement.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Oversees and coordinates tutoring and mentoring programs and workshop series for local youth and families on campus and in community settings.
  • Serves as the volunteer placement liaison between Rutgers University and the surrounding school districts.
  • Performs duties including planning, coordinating, and managing tutoring, mentoring, workshops, host college-bound days, and other programs and events.

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in psychology, education, social work, or related social sciences or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • At least two years of relevant experience working in a program management function in higher ed or youth-serving settings.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to effectively interact with diverse populations, including working with a variety of units and departments to meet the area's mission.
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree.
  • Knowledge of current practices in mentoring programs, experience in service learning, community-based research, and student internships in higher education. This knowledge is fundamental to successfully fulfilling the requirements of the mentoring program and school placement planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Bilingual Spanish.

Equipment Utilized
  • Strong familiarity with equipment and software needed for mentoring and program management, including but not limited to Qualtrics, CANVAS, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Ability to lift boxes and materials up to 25lbs.
Special Conditions

  • This position may require travel.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.
  • Must have access to vehicle transportation.
