This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Towne Centre Drive (San Diego, CA) and remote.

DESCRIPTION

The Grand Central/Prelude Analyst performs a variety of duties for complex projects across the UCSD Health System enterprise. This position will be primarily responsible for implementing and supporting Information Technology applications with minimal supervision, specifically those related to the Epic Grand Central applications, this would include EVS, Patient Transport, Bed Management and Epic Prelude, which provides patient registration, address verification, and HIPAA-compliant eligibility tools to ensure accurate billing.

The Grand Central Analyst is accountable for developing and executing the project plan for large and complex projects and initiatives. The Responsibilities include: top-level design, development, system configuration, implementation, and support of large and complex information systems for the organization; Planning, developing, training, implementing, and evaluating application functionality.

Working with the team and key customers to ensure appropriate development, training, mentoring other staff within the team, and implementation of application functionality. They are responsible for reviewing vendor software releases and updates to determine features desired and then implement them. Incumbent will assist in maintaining current test and training environments and participate in training end-users. These positions also provide 7/24 problem management support and resolution for clinical systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Nine (9) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus five (5) years of related experience/training. Related experience: hospital registration support from a technical standpoint: bed planning, environmental services, patient transport.

  • Broadly encompassing or highly In-depth knowledge of 1-2 areas of focus in clinical applications specialty area(s). Knowledge of operations, systems and functions, including planning, design, development, implementation, user support and training, maintenance, quality assurance, and system testing and evaluation.

  • Ability to apply advanced problem-resolution skills to highly complex issues, quickly diagnose problems, and develop, test, and implement appropriate and effective solutions in a timely manner.

  • Advanced interpersonal communication skills to effectively train, support, and collaborate productively with clinical users and key stakeholders at all professional and technical levels.

  • Advanced organizational and project management skills, and ability to lead a team, prioritize tasks, and see projects through from inception to completion on schedule.

  • Advanced written and verbal communications skills, to convey highly-technical information and instructions to all levels of clinical users and staff in a specific, clear, and concise manner.

  • Advanced analytical skills and expertise in documentation and reporting, with the ability to apply metrics, plan and implement testing systems, collect and analyze performance data, and produce substantive reports and analyses for management use.

  • Advanced ability to serve as a technical leader and information resource, and to work collaboratively with key personnel and management, providing guidance and recommendations on systems, improvements, upgrades, and industry advances and trends.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Epic Certification in Grand Central/Prelude.

  • Epic Grand Central build and implementation experience.

  • Experience as a major participant in a clinical system implementation.

  • Experience in one or more of the following revenue cycle functions: Patient Access and Admitting, Charge Capture, Denials Management and Recovery, Patient Accounting and Patient Financial Services.

  • Experience and proven success in information systems implementation, development and support within a large-scale healthcare organization.

  • Strong ability to provide expert consultative guidance and direction on change initiatives affecting clinical care processes.

  • Proven ability in workflow and data analysis and design techniques, including needs assessment, specification development, quantitative methods, planning and gap analysis.

  • In-depth knowledge of organizational and project planning processes and ability to produce and maintain high quality planning documents.
