Summary

A Design Technician will aid in the product development process, with 3D modeling being the primary focus. They will work with Designers, Manufacturing and Drafting during the development process (both standard and custom) for GameTime. This position will take a design/3D model, verify the Product is manufacturable at the Southern Fulfillment Center, add all technical information and hardware to the 3D Model. They will assist in all other design-drafting functions when deemed necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities




  1. Finalize Design and 3D Model. Work with Designer and engineer to verify design intent.
  2. Participating in design and manufacturing reviews.
  3. Work with Manufacturing to verify processes and clarify information is on the 3D Model.
  4. Apply Hardware and all Technical information for Manufacturing to 3D Model.
  5. Submit drawing files for manufacturing review/markups for Custom Product.
  6. Creating tube laser models for CNC programming
  7. Submit Availability/Drill Sheets for Custom Product.
  8. Follow project through drafting and structuring process.
  9. Review and interpret topographical drawings for hillside component layouts.
  10. Obtain quotes for custom purchased parts.
  11. Must be able to understand and convey scale and perspective of designs in conceptual drawings, sketching, 3D modeling, Photoshop work, etc.
  12. Build prototypes and study models when necessary to gain a sense of scale.
  13. Must be able to work and meet deadlines and work well under the pressure of a fast-paced environment.
  14. Must have knowledge of materials and methods of manufacturing.
  15. Update bluestar to reflect shop times, shop steps, and part categories
  16. Other duties may be assigned by Manager or Supervisor.

Education and/or Experience




  • Associate degree in Drafting and Design and/or 5 years relevant work experience required.
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of materials and methods of manufacturing. Experience with sheet metal, pipe, routed HDPE and rotationally molded plastic is a plus.
  • Must have strong working knowledge of materials and methods of manufacturing.



Travel

Travel may be required up to 10%.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence as well as be able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability

Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in AutoDesk Inventor and AutoCad for design work, concept and production modeling. Other duties may require Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe Photoshop.

Other Skills

Must be eager and willing to quickly learn, operate and apply new software to improve quality and production efficiency.
