        Who You Are...

        As Director of Total Rewards, you will be responsible for the strategy, design, governance, and execution of the company's total rewards programs, including compensation, sales incentive and commission plans, executive compensation support, and benefit programs across a geographically distributed workforce.

        This role is critical to aligning pay-for-performance, profitable growth, and talent attraction and retention. The Director will work closely with Sales leadership on commission structures, Operational Finance on program implementation and financial controls, and the Chief People Officer on executive compensation and long-term incentive design.

        The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, financial acumen, and credibility with leaders.

        Some examples of the work you might do includes:

        Total Rewards Strategy & Governance



        • Develops and maintains a comprehensive total rewards philosophy aligned with business strategy, margin objectives, and talent needs.
        • Establishes governance, policies, and controls to ensure programs are competitive, compliant, scalable, and financially disciplined.
        • Leads annual cycles for merit increases, incentive planning, and executive compensation review.


        Compensation Programs (Enterprise-Wide)



        • Designs, implements, and administers base pay structures, short-term incentive plans, and variable compensation programs.
        • Ensures internal equity, market competitiveness, and compliance with wage and hour, pay equity, and regulatory requirements.
        • Oversees job architecture, salary structures, benchmarking, pay equity and transparency initiatives.


          Sales Incentive & Commission Programs



          • Owns the design and governance of sales commission and incentive compensation programs across project, service, and strategic account sales roles.
          • Partners closely with Sales leadership to align incentives with revenue growth, margin performance, backlog quality, and strategic priorities.
          • Collaborates with Operational Finance to ensure accurate measurement of revenue, margin, and payout mechanics.
          • Oversees commission plan documentation, communication, dispute resolution, and exception governance.


            Executive Compensation & Equity Programs



            • Partners with the Chief People Officer to support executive compensation strategy, including annual incentive plans and long-term incentives.
            • Manages or supports stock purchase programs, equity, or equity-like plans (e.g., ESPP).
            • Partners in the development of executive compensation materials for senior leadership and the Board or Compensation Committee as needed.


              Benefits Programs (Self-Insured & Fully Insured)



              • Leads the team on the strategy and administration of self-insured and fully insured benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and wellness programs.
              • Partners with brokers, stop-loss providers, and third-party administrators to manage plan performance, cost containment, and employee experience.
              • Oversees annual renewals, plan design changes, vendor management, and compliance (ERISA, ACA, HIPAA).
              • Analyzes claims data and trends to inform plan design and cost-management strategies.


                Financial Partnership & Program Implementation



                • Collaborates with Operational Finance on program costing, accruals, forecasting, and financial controls.
                • Ensures compensation and incentive programs are audit-ready, SOX-compliant, and aligned with revenue recognition and job costing practices.
                • Supports integration of compensation and benefits programs in acquisitions or organizational changes.


                  Leadership & Team Management



                  • Leads and develops the Total Rewards and Incentive Compensation team.
                  • Establishes clear processes, service standards, and analytics to support the business.
                  • Acts as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees across functions


                    What You Need...



                    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business, or related field.
                    • 8+ years of progressive experience in total rewards, with significant exposure to sales incentive compensation.
                    • Experience managing self-insured benefits programs and complex vendor relationships.
                    • Strong financial acumen; comfort working with margin, revenue, accruals, and job costing concepts.
                    • Proven ability to partner with Sales, Finance, and Executive leadership.
                    • Experience in construction, engineering, industrial services, or other project-based environments preferred.
                    • Experience with incentive compensation management (ICM) platforms (e.g., Xactly, Varicent).
                    • Exposure to executive compensation and board-level materials.
                    • M&A integration experience
                    • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

                          Work Environment:



                          • This position operates primarily in a professional office environment, and routinely utilizes standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets, printers, and scanners.
                          • The Company's "Remote Work" policy is applicable to this position.
