Duties and Responsibilities
A postdoc position is available in Dr. Gahtan's lab at the Burn and Shock Trauma Research Institute in the Stritch School of Medicine. The laboratory's research area focuses on the role of matricellular proteins in arterial disease. We also examine the pleiotropic effects of statins. Our studies utilize both in vitro and in vivo models. The prospective candidate will have opportunities to work within a highly interactive, multidisciplinary team. Preferences will be given to candidates who Have some relevant research experience, are good at tasks, have good time management skills, and have strong communication skills.

M.D. or PhD Required
Qualifications

  • A qualified candidate must hold a doctoral degree in biology or biomedical sciences.
  • A combination of skills in cell culture, animal disease models, imaging, western blot, immunoprecipitation, ELISA, DNA/RNA preparation, PCR, and real-time PCR is required.
  • Previous experience/knowledge in animal experiments is much preferred, and experience in cardiology and mitochondrial physiology research is a plus.
  • In addition, capabilities to efficiently collect/organize/analyze data and initiate new/modified procedures/techniques based on the latest developments are expected.
