ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Pediatric Consultant, you will translate strategic plans and real estate strategies for health systems, providing a spectrum of operational- and experience-driven solutions that are actionable and implementable. You are interested in understanding and addressing complex challenges faced by pediatric institutions through solutions that not only address the highest and best use of physical space but also provide strategic guidance at an enterprise scale to meet future demands and trends. You are expected to build close connections and a collaborative relationship with in-house consulting teams including our Pediatric Practice, Health Strategy, Analytics, and Operational Planning groups, along with the broader Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design and Design practice.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Analyze market data and healthcare trends to assess current and future service demand, identifying gaps and opportunities for growth in alignment with client objectives
  • Conduct comprehensive space utilization studies, evaluating the efficiency of existing facilities and benchmarking against industry best practices to optimize space allocation
  • Develop data-driven recommendations for facility expansion, renovation, or realignment projects, integrating findings from market analysis and space utilization assessments into actionable strategic plans
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams-including architects, operational planners, and analytics groups-to co-create user-centered solutions that align with organizational goals and enhance patient, staff, and visitor experiences
  • Prepare and present clear, compelling reports and visualizations for clients, illustrating how strategic planning initiatives and capital investments will impact performance, space utilization, and long-term organizational value
  • Support capital planning processes by quantifying project costs, prioritizing initiatives based on return on investment and alignment with market needs, and assisting in the development of business cases for funding approval
  • Foster strong relationships with clients through consistent communication, integrity, and by delivering reliable, high-quality strategic planning services that support both immediate and future needs
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and advancements in healthcare delivery to ensure strategic recommendations remain relevant and forward-looking
  • Facilitate workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions to align diverse perspectives, validate planning assumptions, and build consensus around strategic and capital planning initiatives
  • Conduct on-the-ground assessments, gather operational insights, and support project implementation activities
  • Identify, source, and position for strategic consulting opportunities that leverage CannonDesign services, to innovate and bring value and benefit our pediatric clients
  • Identify, establish and nurture meaningful, long-term relationships with clients and internal partners through excellence, integrity, and reliability and in a way that grows the consulting practice and elevates the brand, while making measurable, living-centered impact
  • Deeply embed our approach to problem solving in human-centered strategies that reflect community impact, social impact, operational needs and financial parameters
  • Significant travel may be required, as necessitated by clients and your role

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Master's degree preferred, bachelor's degree required (preference for studies in Architecture and Business)
  • Additional credential preferred, including additional graduate degrees
  • 10+ years of strategic pediatric consulting experience
  • 10+ years of experience leading teams and managing internal initiatives
  • Deep expertise in pediatric space planning and design requirements with familiarity with FGI and building code requirements
  • Extensive experience presenting to clients, industry conferences, and internal leadership
  • Strategic and analytical thinking to tackle complex challenges
