Description and Requirements

About the Role:
The Solutions and Services Group (SSG) within Lenovo is the engine that transforms our core technology into tailored, high-impact solutions for our clients. We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Manager, Technical Project Management to lead complex R&D initiatives within SSG.

In this leadership role, you will bridge the gap between product engineering, services, and go-to-market teams. You will be responsible for the successful planning, execution, and delivery of technical projects that drive our solutions portfolio. You will not only manage high-stakes projects but also mentor a team of project managers, establishing best practices to ensure efficiency and excellence across the R&D organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Program Leadership: Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex, cross-functional R&D programs within the SSG portfolio, ensuring alignment with business goals and solution roadmaps.

  • Team Management: Manage, mentor, and scale a team of Technical Project Managers. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and technical curiosity.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison between R&D engineering teams, Solutions Architects, Professional Services, and Product Management to define scope, requirements, and delivery timelines.

  • Technical Planning: Work closely with engineering leads to break down complex technical requirements, manage technical dependencies, and mitigate risks associated with software development, systems integration, and solution deployment.

  • Process Optimization: Establish and refine agile project management frameworks tailored for a solutions-oriented R&D environment. Drive the adoption of best practices in project tracking, reporting, and quality assurance.

  • Stakeholder Management: Communicate project status, risks, and key milestones to senior leadership and key stakeholders. Translate technical complexities into clear business narratives.

  • Resource & Budget Management: Oversee project budgets, resource allocation, and capacity planning to ensure optimal team performance and efficient use of R&D investments.

  • Innovation Enablement: Identify opportunities to streamline the "idea-to-delivery" lifecycle, helping the team navigate ambiguity to bring innovative solutions to market faster.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • 2-5 years of experience in technical project or program management, including managing timelines, requirements, and crossfunctional coordination
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within an R&D or innovation-focused environment, especially where requirements evolve rapidly
  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to understand engineering concepts and communicate effectively with scientists, researchers, and developers
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, MS Project, Smartsheet)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguous, earlystage projects, including defining scope, creating roadmaps, and establishing operational structure
  • Experience with Agile or hybrid development methodologies, and the ability to adapt processes for research environments
  • Excellent communication and stakeholdermanagement skills, including presenting project status and risks to leadership
  • Experience managing risks, dependencies, and technical constraints across multidisciplinary teams (hardware, software, research, experimentation, etc.)
