The Volunteer Services Program Manager works closely with Yale New Haven Health Volunteer Services teams to align the planning, coordination, and daily operations of the hospital's volunteer programs. The Program Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the hospital's volunteer program and retail locations, including recruitment, orientation, scheduling, and supervision of retail staff and volunteers. This role works with the system volunteer team to create recognition programs and support hospital leadership and staff with engaged volunteers that align with hospital goals, operational needs, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Volunteer Services Program Management:
    • 1.1 Recruit, interview, and select volunteers for various hospital departments.
  • 2. Retail Location Program Management:
    • 2.1 Participate in recruitment, interviews, and selection processes for staffing hospital retail locations.
  • 3. Provide oversight to Auxiliary, PFAC, Healing Touch/Gentle Touch, Pet Therapy Programs, as well as community partnerships and hospital initiatives
  • 4. Partner with system colleagues and hospital leaders to develop programs that support patient experience initiatives.
  • 5. May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum three (3) years' experience working with volunteer programs or managing volunteer teams. Experience in program development, public speaking, and project coordination in healthcare setting preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills required. Must have the ability to work cooperatively and effectively with a broad range of hospital staff and volunteers to provide exceptional patient/customer experience. Proficient in Microsoft 365, Outlook, payroll systems, and POS.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

Sitting, standing walking, must be able to push/pull and lift up to 25 lbs.
