San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is an international, nonprofit conservation organization with two front doors: the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. We integrate wildlife health and care, science, and education to develop sustainable conservation solutions.

HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION The Instructional Designer will curate, design and facilitate learning solutions that align with the needs of our locations and with our experienced team of subject matter experts, create long-lasting change that impacts organizational results. The role requires an individual who is knowledgeable in adult learning and instructional design strategies for performance-based outcomes, can innovate, move quickly, and not be constrained by how things have been done before. This position reports to the Senior Business Development Products & Services Manager.

WHAT YOU WILL DO



  • Lead projects through the design lifecycle from scoping, research and analysis, design, development, and launch; providing clear timelines through all phases, communicating with key partners, and selecting appropriate measurement for successful implementation.
  • Create high quality participant guides, facilitator guides, and supporting materials such as tutorials, digital interactives, user guides, audio and video scripts, tests, etc., that transform leadership skills, and practical information into engaging, branded materials.
  • Designing and developing learning programs using a variety of solutions, such as e-learning, instructor-led training, job aids, and performance support resources.
  • Identify learning objectives, assess learners, performance outcomes, and evaluative strategies to deliver instruction including consulting with program owners and subject matter experts to identify performance gaps and learning objectives.
  • Prepares facilitators to deliver training solutions (through train the trainer).
  • Facilitate trainings, lead meetings, focus groups, and workshops.
  • Manage learning programs, trainings, and content in Learning Management System (LMS).


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR This is a 1-year temporary position. Ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently to create and update courses for SDZWA Academy. Experience or knowledge of Articulate Rise software.


JOB EXPERIENCE



  • 3-5 years training experience developing relevant curriculum or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Instructional Design Experience - 3 yrs required



EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS



  • Associates degree in organizational development, Education, Learning & Development, HR, Business, or equivalent required.



SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE



  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills including technical writing.
  • Experience in facilitation. Knowledge of instructional/program design, development and evaluations; adult learning concepts and learning methodologies including instructional technology are preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to identify organizational issues of diverse scope and complexity, develop solutions, and implement action plans.
  • Must be able to work independently on several projects simultaneously.
  • Understanding and experience with eLearning authoring tools and learning management systems. Articulate Storyline, Camtasia experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with virtual classrooms such as ZOOM and WebEx.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite; especially PowerPoint.
  • Experience with creating content for mobile apps, tablets and laptops using LMS system.
  • Experience with LMS architecture and deployment within a corporate learning environment.

The posted salary range represents the full compensation potential for this role over time. Initial hiring offers are typically made within the lower to mid portion of the range and are based on a combination of relevant experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and organizational considerations. Placement near the top of the range is generally reserved for individuals who demonstrate sustained performance, growth, and expanded responsibilities in the role over time.
