Who we are looking for:

Atkore, a recipient of a Great Place to Work certification and a Top Workplaces USA award, is searching for a Security Supervisor to be based out of our company headquarters in Harvey, IL. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Security the Security Supervisor is responsible for Atkore's security operations at the Harvey, Illinois location. Will be responsible for supervising a team of full-time and contract security personnel, day-to-day security operations and support the corporate security program and initiatives.

What you'll do:



  • Provide leadership and guidance to security personnel through mentorship, training and hands-on experiences.
  • Draft and implement guidelines and standard work practices relating to site and corporate security, including but not limited to, access control, video surveillance, key control, guard operations, emergency response, medical response, scheduling, training, evaluations, fire system management.
  • Manage fire systems throughout the Harvey site, this includes working with vendor on scheduled testing and inspections, as well as coordinate maintenance issues as they arise.
  • Oversee guard tour system for site, includes setting up and reviewing tours and documentation.
  • Conduct 1:1 monthly meetings and semi-annual performance reviews of guard staff.
  • Administer access control system for site, including new profile set-up, disabling, auditing and reports upon request.
  • Manage video surveillance systems for sites, including camera assessments, new installations, service requests and support video archiving programs.
  • Coordinate contract guard operations with account liaison, reconcile billing and coordinate training.
  • Oversee key control for site, including key inventory, distribution and tracking.
  • Maintain accurate records of security incidents, reports and investigations.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide assistance based on level of training, document same and notify others of incident (EHS, HR, etc.)
  • Coordinate an ongoing review of existing security programs and initiate the development of new programs, as needed.
  • Collaborates with vendors and contractors to ensure the effectiveness of security systems.
  • Train new security personnel in all security guidelines and practices.
  • Responsible for security related invoice tracking, purchase order management and billing reconciliation.
  • Oversee the site emergency response team program, including training and meetings.
  • Obtain and maintain MFR or EMT certification, AHA CPR/AED/FA certification and Instructor certification.
  • Respond to injuries and provide medical assistance.
  • Available to work overtime as needed and ensure all shifts are covered.
  • Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.


What you'll bring:



  • Bachelor's degree or combination of education, military and experience in security, criminal justice or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible security supervision experience, within a corporate organization.
  • Valid driver's license is required with acceptable driving record.
  • Must be or ability to get certified as EMT/MFR and CPR/AED/FA Instructor.
  • Good working knowledge of security operations and safety practices in a business environment and enforcement procedures are required.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, good writing skills with ability to write reports, guidelines or outlining observations and activities.
  • The ability to make independent and good judgment decisions within proper policy and procedures are required.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills within a corporate and manufacturing culture and effectiveness coaching team members and inspiring teamwork both within his/her direct areas of responsibility and laterally among other work teams.
  • Proven ability and commitment to being discreet, tactful, timely and operating judiciously when addressing internal and external personnel needs.
  • Ability to stay calm in an emergency during high stress situations.
  • Understanding of security networks, video surveillance, access controls systems, as well as other technology.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products, Outlook, Teams, Share Point, Word, Excel, etc.


Within 3 months, you'll:



  • Complete your Atkore immersion program.
  • Gain an understanding of the facility layout, departments, processes and business flow.
  • Gain an understanding of your role, your team and department, and the responsibility you will hold.
  • Gain an understanding of the training materials and processes your role requires.
  • Establish 1:1 relationships with security team members


Within 6 months, you'll:



  • Understand your role as it relates to supervising the security team, guidelines, policies and standard work.
  • Know leadership within the corporate organization, site management and key personnel who work regularly with security.
  • Understand all posts and assignments and able to respond to all requests for assistance.
  • Understand Genetec Security Center software, guard tour system and how to complete certain functions and tasks.


Within 12 months, you'll:



  • Become an embedded member of the security team and have full understanding of all security post orders, guidelines and policies.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $54,960 - $75,570. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
