The function involves complex data acquisition and analysis resulting in senior level management reports and loan presentations. Responsibilities include spreading financial statements, loan portfolio management assistance via covenant compliance certificate analysis and review, and credit underwriting in accordance with the Bank's credit policies and procedures, and in compliance with the requirements set forth by the government regulatory agencies. In addition, this position provides support to credit administration where requested. The analyst is expected to work closely with relationship managers to properly structure prospective loans to meet credit policies, and to identify risks of the transaction. This individual will be responsible for independently underwriting commercial loan requests from financial statement spreading through loan approval memorandum preparation.

Job Description



  • Works with relationship managers to properly structure loan requests to meet bank's policy and desired risk appetite. In many cases, the individual will prepare pre-screen memorandums to pre-flight the request.
  • Contacts internal and occasionally external customers to gather information and/or clarify information previously received.
  • Analyzes corporate financials (tax returns, CPA Reviewed Financials, CPA Audits, SEC Filings) utilizing spreading software and other analytical tools to assess the company's cash flow, leverage and coverage ratios.
  • Analyzes personal tax returns and other personal financial data to assess the strength of any personal obligors or business owners.
  • Utilizes internal and external collateral evaluations to assess the secondary or tertiary source of repayment.
  • Prepares loan approval memorandums used by senior management in approving loan requests. The memorandum identifies key risks of a transaction and applicable mitigating factors. The memorandum concisely and substantively incorporates the analytical work in a way that can be easily digested by all parties.
  • Periodically reviews existing loan customers for annual reviews and covenant monitoring.
  • Works independently to efficiently service and support the department's internal and external customers.
  • Applicants may be asked to serve as subject matter experts for certain industries or loan types.
  • Assist Relationship Managers in determining level of interest for new credit opportunities and in structuring new credits to be submitted for approval.
  • Prepare the comprehensive Credit Memo on loan transactions, to be submitted for approval. Complete with appropriate supporting information including loan structure/pricing analysis, borrower history/experience assessment, historical and projected financial statements spreadsheets, tax return analysis, credit report review, collateral evaluation, and repayment/risk analysis.
  • Prepare Loan Agreement Compliance Report (LACR), Annual Review Report (ARR) and Monitored Loan Report (MLR) as necessary for existing credits, and interact with RMs to advise on trends or deficiencies in the borrower's/guarantor's financial condition.
  • Provide in-depth analysis of historical financial statements, cash flow and debt service requirements and business plans/projections.
  • C&I / CRE experience and CFP certification is a plus.

  • C&I / CRE experience and CFP certification is a plus


Position Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in a business related field;
  • Minimum of 3-5 years commercial underwriting experience, preferably with CRE banking transactions;
  • Must have knowledge of financial and tax accounting, general underwriting, and analytical skills as wells as knowledge of credit risk principles;


Salary Range: $80,000.00 - $125,000.00. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
