Job Description Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
- Leads the design, installation, operation, support, upgrades, and maintenance of infrastructure, including software, servers, and storage.
- Administers, maintains, and supports complex and critical infrastructure.
- Administers application security and configurations.
- Coordinates application testing with functional areas.
- Analyzes infrastructure performance and resolves problems or makes appropriate recommendations.
- Leads troubleshooting of application, operating system server hardware, network communications and storage problems within infrastructure.
- Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
- Conducts routine infrastructure and security audits to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
- Monitors and maintains continuity with system licensing and maintenance agreements.
- Serves as an escalation point for Systems Engineers.
- Tracks problems in the work order system.
- Maintains records, forms, and standard operating procedures documentation.
- Develops new techniques and procedures to enhance university systems infrastructure.
- Reviews processes, evaluates results, recommends new processes, and promotes best practices.

Additional Job Description Required Qualifications:
- This position requires either nine years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science or related field and five years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
- Professional full-time experience with enterprise systems and applications and current versions of Windows Server/Linux or other enterprise services.
- Experience with large enterprise computing environments that include multiple site locations.
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five years professional full-time experience with application system support and implementation in a medium to large computing environment.
- Active certification(s) such as a Microsoft MCSE, MCTIP, and/or VM-Ware (VCP) or Red Hat RHCT/RHCE.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Proven ability to think strategically and approach challenges with creativity.
- Demonstrated track record of reliability, meeting goals, and holding oneself accountable.
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience working effectively across teams.
- Knowledge of networking concepts (e.g. Systems, Protocols, Directory Services).
- Knowledge and proficiency with relevant business systems, operating systems, and servers.
- Knowledge of and ability to administer local and cloud based applications (SaaS) such as Azure/AWS or Office 365.
- Skill in shell scripting/PowerShell/Bash scripting, project management of large initiatives, and troubleshooting.
- Skill in managing servers and storage hardware.
- Skill in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.
- Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations when numerous and competing demands are involved.
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively within the community and willingness to contribute to a team effort.
- Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments.
