Job Summary: The Senior Survey Technician plays a vital role in supporting surveying and mapping activities by offering technical expertise in an office setting. This position involves data processing, quality control, and managing survey data collected in the field. The Senior Survey Office Technician collaborates closely with surveyors and other team members to ensure the accuracy and completeness of survey information.



Responsibilities

    Data Processing: Process raw survey data collected in the field, including GPS, total station, and laser scanning data, to create accurate survey maps and drawings.
  • Quality Control: Review and verify survey data to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • CAD, LiDAR and GIS Software: Use Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Geographic Information System (GIS) software to produce maps, drawings, and reports based on survey data.
  • Documentation: Keep detailed records of survey data, reports, and project documents for future reference and project archives.
  • Project Support: Work with surveyors and field crews to provide technical support and guidance on survey-related issues.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Help maintain and calibrate survey equipment, including total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors.
  • Data Management: Organize and oversee survey data files, ensuring data security and ease of access.
  • Communication: Regularly update project managers, surveyors, and team members on progress and address any data-related concerns.
  • Contribute to both field and office data collection and processing tasks.


Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent (a bachelor's degree in surveying or a related field is preferred).
    • Several years of experience in survey data collection, processing, and office operations.
    • Proficiency in CAD and GIS software, such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, TopoDOT, or similar applications.
    • Knowledge of surveying principles, techniques, and equipment.
    • Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
    • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
    • Familiarity with data management and record-keeping best practices.
    • Experience with Trimble survey equipment is preferred.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to sit for extended periods and work on a computer.
    • Occasional lifting and carrying survey equipment.

    Working Conditions:

    • Work primarily in an office environment.
    • Occasional fieldwork may be required, including outdoor surveying tasks.

The pay range for this California position is $40.00- $42.00 per hour; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
