The Scientist, Radiochemistry will be a critical member of the scientific team responsible for developing protocols for radiolabeling peptides to enable preclinical evaluation of novel radiopharmaceutical medicines.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and validate methods for radiolabeling novel peptides and small molecules ensuring binding affinity and stability in buffers and plasma are maintained

  • Synthesize radiolabeled peptides and small molecules for biodistribution, target engagement, and pharmacodynamic studies by SPECT imaging and gamma counting

  • Manage studies with contract research organizations including radiolabeling services

  • Manage the radiochemistry laboratory including the acquisition, storage, and removal of radioisotopes

  • Maintain laboratory equipment including Radio High Performance Liquid Chromatography (radio HPLC), Radio-Thin-Layer-Chromatography (radio-TLC), radioactivity detector, dose calibrator, and gamma counter

  • Author standard test methods for radiolabeling protocols

  • Maintain electronic laboratory notebooks for all experiments

  • Adhere to established safety practices including ALARA

Requirements:

  • PhD in chemistry or related field, and 2-5 years of radiochemistry experience

  • Proficient in fundamental concepts in radiochemistry

  • Previous experience performing chromatographic analytical techniques for SPECT imaging studies including HPLC, Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC), Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS)

  • Previous experience radiolabeling compounds with various isotopes (notably Lutetium-177) including quality control steps like assessing activity, purity, stability, autoradiolysis, etc

  • Knowledge of translational and regulatory CMC requirements is preferred

  • Experience working on cross-disciplinary teams

  • Proficiency using radio HPLC software and radioactivity detection software

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written

Our Compensation and Benefits

At Ferring, base salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is $125,000 to $182,000, which is the reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount paid may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education and primary work location. Additional compensation for this role will be provided based on competitive annual incentive compensation targets in the form of an annual bonus - payouts are based on individual and company performance.

Benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with a premium differential, inverse to base salary, to be paid by employees, a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, wellness benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full time employees to accrue up to 120 hours in the first four (4) years of employment, and 160 hours in the fifth (5th) year of employment as well as 15 paid holidays per year.
