DLZ is seeking a proactive, in-office IT Support Technician to provide onsite and remote technical support for offices in Northwest Indiana and the greater Chicagoland area. This role is primarily based in Burns Harbor, IN, with regular travel to nearby offices including Chicago, Joliet, Munster, Whiting, and Merrillville.

This position is ideal for a self-directed technician who enjoys being the local IT presence, solving day-to-day technical issues, and supporting users directly while collaborating with a centralized IT team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary IT point of contact for assigned regional offices.
  • Provide onsite and remote end-user support for hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Support new employee onboarding, including workstation setup, account provisioning, and desk configuration.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve break/fix issues for computers, peripherals, and other IT equipment.
  • Maintain a regular onsite presence and strong working relationships with local staff and leadership.
  • Manage and resolve Help Desk tickets; escalate complex issues as appropriate.
  • Travel to other DLZ offices for projects, coverage, office expansions, remodels, or new office setups.
  • Provision, deploy, and maintain hardware and software; manage local hardware inventory and depot.
  • Coordinate with vendors for repairs, support services, printing/plotting systems, and service escalations.
  • Assist with user account administration, endpoint security tools, patching, and cybersecurity triage.
  • Create and contribute to basic documentation, knowledge base articles, and end-user training materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field OR equivalent hands-on professional experience.
  • 2+ years of experience providing onsite and remote end-user IT support in a business or enterprise environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems, common business applications, and peripheral devices (printers, scanners, plotters).
  • Experience with hardware deployment, break/fix troubleshooting, and new user onboarding.
  • Fundamental understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, wired and wireless connectivity).
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues independently while knowing when to escalate appropriately.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, geographically distributed environment.
  • Reliable transportation with the ability to travel regularly between regional offices.
  • Ability to lift, transport, and install IT equipment up to 50 lbs, including occasional overhead lifting.

Preferred / Nice to Have:

  • Experience supporting basic Windows server environments, Active Directory, and user account administration.
  • Exposure to enterprise networking technologies (e.g., Cisco, SD-WAN).
  • Familiarity with endpoint security tools and cybersecurity best practices (e.g., CrowdStrike, Zscaler, patching, phishing triage).
  • Basic scripting or automation experience (PowerShell and/or Python).
