University Laboratory Animal Resources (ULAR) provides care for laboratory animals in support of UC Irvine's research and teaching missions, in compliance with State and Federal laws and regulations pertaining to the use of vertebrate animals for research and teaching, and to maintain accreditation by AAALAC International.


Your Role on the Team

Uses professional purchasing skills and concepts to complete purchasing assignments of moderate complexity requiring the analysis and review of multiple procurement options. Has authority to make purchases within a moderate and pre-approved dollar limit. Exercises judgment within defined limits and practices to determine most effective methodology to acquire common goods and services, including veterinary supplies and prescription medication under campus veterinarian's state license. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Coordinate with campus researchers and lab personnel to purchase necessary supplies allowed under their respective protocols. Monitor and maintain records of campus veterinary supplies purchases.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $28.88- $34.10 (Hourly).

Required:

  • Analytical skills necessary to evaluate the quality and cost effectiveness of purchasing options.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to read and interpret terms and conditions of basic contracts.
  • Working level of proficiency in the use of standard spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Some knowledge of the organization's departments and operations required in order to meet their procurement needs.
  • Prior purchasing experience in departmental setting.
  • Knowledge of commonly used veterinary supplies and medications.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with campus Kuali Financial System (KFS) and campus procurement policies.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • 1-3 yearsExperience with procurement in academic setting.
