The Division of Summer Session offers 3 different sessions where students can enroll in courses for each summer. Summer Session offers more than 800 courses and annually enrolls more than 13,000 students, most of whom are UCI matriculated students. Those who enroll in these sessions and take an academic program equivalent to a regular quarter may accelerate their progress toward a degree and/or minor. Courses offered include a wide variety from the regular session, supplemented by offerings available only during the summer, including an increasing number of online courses. Admission is open to all university students, high school graduates, qualified high school students who have completed their sophomore year by summer of the current year, and community members.


Your Role on the Team

Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of the Division of Summer Session, responsible for the analysis, planning, organizing, and coordination of all courses offered during Summer Session. This involves working with a high degree of independence, consulting and liaising with all UCI school departments to provide and obtain necessary information to build various summer session course schedules. Serves as the primary contact for all department managers and course schedulers and manages all communications to them. Take into consideration the proper sequencing of courses for progression toward degree, courses taught in other departments, and other complicating factors to ensure the courses offered are optimized for enrollment. Oversee the accuracy of course setup within PowerCampus and ensures data integrity with Registrar and other campus systems. Also serves as the primary contact for instructional assignments and oversees various communication and coordination involving school departments' instructional support needs. Work is reviewed by results achieved.

Fully in-person position with schedule flexibility.

Required:

  • Thorough knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.
  • Thorough knowledge of department, organization, and University policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, to work effectively across the organization at all levels. Ability to resolve conflicts with tact and diplomacy.
  • Proven ability in problem identification, reasoning, analysis to identify trends.
  • Proven ability to find solutions to conflicting situations. Detail oriented with the ability to apply critical thinking skills to analyze problems and apply effective solutions. Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion and demonstrate independence in identifying complex problems and proposing innovative solutions.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Excellent multitasking and follow-through skills; able to work under pressure managing multiple projects with attention to details.
  • Demonstrates strong teamwork by collaborating across departments, communicating clearly, and adapting to diverse perspectives to achieve shared project goals.
  • Ability to exemplify excellence through diversity by creating a welcoming and inclusive environment that maximizes the success and inclusion of our UCI community. Ability to work and interact with diverse populations.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • 3-5 yearsRelevant experience in a university setting.

Preferred:

  • Thorough knowledge of UCI department and school general and major course and degree requirements.
