We are looking for an Optical Assembler II to join Endress+Hauser Optical Analysis, the global leader in Raman spectroscopy, tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS), and quenched fluorescence (QF) instrumentation for laboratory, process, and manufacturing environments. Our laser-based analyzer systems perform high-performance chemical composition and concentration measurement of all phases of matter in any installation environment.

What is the role about?

This position is a temporary position and will require a commitment of six months. The role does have the opportunity to be hired as a full-time regular position, following the initial temporary period.

This position is responsible for performing assigned and varied tasks supporting the manufacturing department with the assembly and testing of precision laser and optical assemblies. This position performs all tasks under supervision. The work is routine with some special assignments or tasks.

Which essential functions will you perform?

• Perform bench-type processes in a clean environment involving a high degree of manual dexterity, visual acuity, math and measurement.
• Responsible for mounting, bonding, cleaning and testing optical components, lens elements, and subassemblies.
• High density soldering with the use of magnification.
• Examining parts for surface defects and reporting defective materials or questionable conditions to the department manager.
• Align, fit, and assemble component parts into completed units.
• Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
• Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision. May work at different workstations as production needs require or shift from one station to another during the assembly process.
• Ensure that a safe work environment and safety work practices are maintained at all times.

What qualifications are needed?

• This intermediate position requires the knowledge of and application of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures in optical and electronics assembly.
• 2-3 years of professional experience.
• Must have an understanding and ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Must have the ability to read, understand and follow work instructions and documentation and to effectively present verbal and written information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and team members.
• Must be able to set up and use basic hand tools.
• Must be able to follow inspection requirements.
• Must have knowledge of ESD and safety procedures.
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and work through problems should they arise.
• Must be able to adhere to a firm work schedule, with the ability to work overtime if necessary.

The listed range for this position is $21.00 - $26.00 per hour but the actual package offered may vary depending on different factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
