Title: Academic Tutoring - Tutor I, Tutor II, Tutor III (Temporary Part-Time) Position Summary: Tutor students to improve their academic performance, retention, and graduation rates. Department: Academic Tutoring Location: Tutors will work from one or more of the five Pellissippi State campuses or virtually. Pay Rate: Duties and Responsibilities: 90% - Tutor students individually and in groups. Adapt tutoring methods to meet students' varying 4% - Complete tutor training activities and submit required paperwork. 2% - Communicate with Academic Tutoring personnel. 2% - Visit classes and attend events to promote tutoring services. 1% - Confer with other tutors and teachers to resolve students' problems. 1% - Refer students to other departments/resources within the College. Note: The College reserves the right to change or reassign job duties, or combine positions at Required Qualifications: B. Transcripts that show minimum qualifications must be provided. C. Applicant must be professional, respectful, and trustworthy. D. Applicant must have: 1. Communication skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey information to students. E. Writing/English tutors are required to have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a writing-intensive major. A master's degree is preferred. Non-Essential Functions: B. Knowledge of Pellissippi coursework and requirements. C. Enforce rules for behavior. E. Multi-tasking abilities. F. Perform related duties as assigned.
