The Town of Needham seeks an organized and community-focused individual for the position of Program Support Assistant 3 in the Aging Services Division. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Programming & Transportation, this part-time role creates, reviews, and distributes the Compass newsletter, showcasing scheduled programs throughout Needham Aging Services each month. This position supports social media content creation and the drafting of press releases as well as assists with other groups and event programming including some audio/visual setup. The ideal candidate is organized, savvy with newsletter and social media content creation, and is eager to support Aging Services programs for community members.
Anticipated Schedule: not to exceed 19.5 hours/week Tuesday through Friday: 10:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Duties and Responsibilities

These duties are a general summary and not all inclusive:
- Creates, reviews, and distributes monthly Compass newsletter via email and mail with program offerings and details for Aging Services.
- Supports in account maintenance, monitoring, and content creation across social media channels to provide updates and advertising for Aging Services programs, events, and activities.
- Supports with set up of audio/visual system(s) for Aging Services programs.
- Drafts press releases for Aging Services as needed.
- Supports in program creation and execution as required.
- May assist with lunch and dinner service as needed.
- Provides administrative support to Aging Services staff as required including support with bulk mailings.
- May support on related projects, data entry and gathering as needed.

Requirements
-
The following requirements may be substituted by any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job:
- Have the ability to communicate effectively and interact tactfully with the elderly population and the general public.
- Be reliable and dependable with the ability to support and assist customers and staff.
- Have achieved High School diploma/G.E.D. or equivalent experience.
- Have familiarity with relevant technology including social media platforms and Canva Pro.
- Be reliable with time-sensitive tasks.
- Knowledge of newsletter drafting and distribution programs such as Publisher, Word, and Excel are a plus.
- Experience creating programming for seniors is beneficial.
