General Tax Specialist - Genesco

Job Summary

The General Tax Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of assigned domestic/foreign sales/use tax filings and remittance of tax as well as all reports and remittance payments as necessary; the accurate and timely preparation of escheat property, and timely remittance of payments as necessary; accurate and timely remittances of personal property tax payments. This position handles multiple assignments in a rapidly changing, fast paced environment with frequent direct interaction with internal/external individuals.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepares assigned domestic and foreign sales and use tax returns
• Responsible for all escheat property compliance per state statues
• Oversee timely payment processing of domestic/foreign personal property tax filings
• Responsible for the location maintenance in the Store Database/Determination Software Systems
• Other duties and projects assigned by the Tax Supervisor

Job Requirements

• High school diploma
• 2 - 4 years' relevant tax experience with a large multi-state corporate tax department
• Knowledge of basic accounting terms
• Good understanding of tax concepts
• Strong computer skills to include Word, Excel and software applications
• Demonstrated time-management and multi-tasking skills coupled with a keen ability to prioritize assignments
• Strong math skills
• Strong customer service skills for both internal and external customers
• Strong ability to read, understand, and interpret complicated documents
• Strong communication skills to include active listening and the ability to meet the needs of all audiences
• Excellent organizational skills
• Must be detail oriented
