You Will

The Manager, Payroll ensures that payroll schedules are maintained and that all payrolls run on time and with extreme accuracy, including reconciling bank and organizational records. They process all transactions in compliance with state and federal payroll regulations, including federal, state and local tax reports, i.e. tax withholdings and unemployment insurance reports. Provides analysis of payroll data upon request to Finance and/or Talent & Culture. They will partner with Benefits Team in maintaining benefits interface with payroll and serving as a backup to the Manager, Benefits. In addition, providing prompt and efficient customer service to all employees regarding payroll questions/issues is imperative. This position will manage the company's TransitCheck program, 401(k), PTO policy, HRIS including all invoicing and balance all wages at year end before distributing W2s to employees. May be asked to work with Sr. Director for Total Rewards on compensation projects and market assessments.



Essential Responsibilities

This is a hybrid role with only 1-2 days per month in the NYC office.

    Manage workflow and proactively identify and resolve issues, understanding and executing all functions required for the payroll process, balancing the workload and assuring all critical functions are covered on a daily basis.
  • Meet all payroll deadlines, provide feedback as well as implement new procedures in order to improve the quality and consistency of the work performed and ensure all payroll transactions are processed in accordance with GSUSA policy.
  • Models an outstanding customer service mindset. Fosters a supportive environment for team members to grasp the concepts of effective customer service and appreciate the criticality of their use at GSUSA.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates. Ensures accurate deductions including Multi-state, 401(k), H.S.A, F.S.A, etc.
  • Partner on new hire/open enrollment to ensure accuracy of deductions and elections.
  • Ensures accuracy of timesheet data for hourly and non-exempt staff.
  • Provides support to Sr Director for Total Rewards on Compensation projects and analyses as requested.
  • Collaborates with Manager, Benefits to generate and process benefits invoices for GSUSA.
  • Supports the Talent & Culture contract process working with the T&C Coordinator to ensure all Total Rewards contracts are reviewed and executed in a timely manner.
  • Manages projects that are relatively straightforward in nature and objectives, with relatively small teams and lasting up to several months. Partners with appropriate GSUSA colleagues and customer communities to implement project outcomes.

Required Technical Skills

  • Office 365 or similar suites
  • Competency in PowerPoint or similar presentation software
  • Advanced competency in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables & vlookup) or similar software
  • Ceridien Dayforce is a plus


You Need

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in corporate environment
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) and/or other APA certification is a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a professional office environment.

POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

SALARY RANGE: $70,000 - $110,000
