Job Description

The University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL), a proud member of NCAA Division II and the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and visionary Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach to lead and grow our competitive tennis programs. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to oversee all aspects of both programs, build a culture of excellence, and develop student athletes both on and off the court.

The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership, high-level coaching, recruitment oversight, and program administration while fostering sportsmanship, academic success, and competitive achievement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, organize, and manage all aspects of the men's and women's tennis programs.
  • Plan and conduct high-quality training sessions focused on technical, tactical, physical, and mental development.
  • Recruit and retain talented student-athletes aligned with institutional values.
  • Develop competitive match schedules and oversee team travel.
  • Coach during competitions and provide performance analysis.
  • Supervise assistant coaches and support staff.
  • Manage program budgets, equipment, and compliance requirements.
  • Promote academic success, personal development, and sportsmanship.
  • Engage alumni, supporters, and the broader community to enhance program visibility.

Shift

Variable dependent on recruiting, practices and games.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in related/relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 6 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous coaching experience
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel with the team
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required
  • Experience coaching at the NCAA level
  • Familiarity with NCAA Division II rules and recruiting procedures
  • Demonstrated commitment to the academic and athletic success of student-athletes
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $50,000 - 55,000
Grade: GGS-MKT
University Title: Head Coach
