Job Purpose:

Viking is a leading developer of storage and cloud management software and hardware products, providing solutions through hardware OEMs, System Integrators and Enterprise customers who are seeking a flexible, scalable and resilient platform on which to build systems for, public cloud or private cloud applications.

Work with customers to create ML/AI applications for specific markets and industries. Specific attention to edge-based solutions that consume large quantities of data for transformation at the edge.

Viking's core expertise is in Kubernetes based solutions, which provides programmable and automated storage infrastructure, creating the perception of infinite flexibility in terms of scale and quality of service.

Viking has designed and built multiple storage and compute enabled solutions that incorporate Jupyter, Tensorflow, and multiple ML/AI applications that utilize multiple internal GPUs for generative and inferential AI applications.

Viking's open-platform, open-API software architecture allows it to be run on standard hardware and to be easily integrated with other third-party software solutions.

Viking utilizes a combination of open-source software and internally developed features to quickly create useful tools for managing storage environments and ML/AI systems in the cloud, on premise or both.

Nature of Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Develop the ML/AI tool suite; reporting into the Senior Director of Software Engineering.
  • This role requires hands-on development; articulate problem statements, plan, prioritize and develop their resolution and if necessary, unblock any technical issues.
  • Work with the team in developing robust software architectures based on current technologies.
  • Share responsibility for the attainment of group engineering objectives.
  • Follow good Agile practices that are for source control, build, engineering verification test, and trouble shooting.
  • Understand and use good software architectural principles as necessary for each product.
  • Work directly with the Chief Storage Architect to understand and achieve the product vision.
  • Contribute to the product innovation by keeping abreast of new technologies in ML/AI markets.


Education and Experience:



  • 4-year degree in AI/ML
  • 2-5 years of experience or Masters in AI/ML
  • Skilled with ML/AI tools such as TensorFlow, Pytorch, Triton, Etc.
  • Linux OS cli
  • Python and bash scripting
  • Training and use of LLMs for specific use cases
  • Data analysis and ETL
  • Familiar with Nvidia GPUs and Nvidia AI tool suite
  • Familiar with Kubeflow, Kserve, Kuberay
  • Experience in IDEs such as VSC and Jupyter
  • Excellent customer communication skills.
  • Some industry domain knowledge or willingness to develop that knowledge.
  • You will also be working with remote co-workers in various time zones.
  • Experience in participating in Agile and Scrum development methodologies
  • Demonstrate a sense of great ownership for your work and commitments
  • Be a team player.

Salary Range(annual): $100,000 - $115,000

Actual base pay within this range (determined at the offer stage) will be based on a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, and skills, and is just one element of our total rewards package. The total rewards package also includes a variety of benefits, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business and, depending on the role, may include eligibility for restricted stock unit awards and participation in a discretionary bonus program.
