STS Technical Services is hiring an IFR Helicopter Pilot to support air medical transport operations based in London, Kentucky. This position places experienced pilots at the center of emergency medical response, flying critical care missions where safety, precision, and disciplined decision making are essential.

Pilots in this role operate EC135 aircraft while conducting life saving patient transport missions in complex operating environments. Operations run 24 hours per day with rotating day and night schedules under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) and Night Vision Goggle (NVG) conditions.

This position also includes off duty housing, allowing pilots to focus on mission readiness while maintaining a stable and predictable rotation schedule.


Position Overview

STS Technical Services is recruiting an experienced Instrument Flight Rules Helicopter Pilot to support operations for a leading air medical transport provider in London, Kentucky.

Pilots in this role conduct critical care transport missions, providing rapid medical response in challenging and diverse environments. You will operate under IFR and NVG operations while delivering life saving patient transport services with professionalism and precision.

Operations include 24 hour coverage with day and night rotations while flying as Captain in EC135 aircraft. Off duty housing is provided.


Aircraft and Operational Details

  • Aircraft: EC135
  • Location: London, Kentucky
  • Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off rotation
  • 24 hour operational coverage
  • Day and night flight operations
  • IFR and NVG operations
  • Off duty housing provided

Compensation

  • Sign On Bonus: Up to $100,000
  • Competitive base pay, shift bonuses, and annual safety and performance bonuses
  • Relocation assistance may be available

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform line pilot duties in accordance with operational procedures
  • Operate EC135 helicopter safely during air medical transport missions
  • Assist with patient and equipment loading as required
  • Follow strict safety protocols and participate in safety campaigns
  • Support community outreach programs
  • Coordinate with medical crews for efficient patient transport

Minimum Qualifications

  • Commercial Helicopter Pilot Certificate
  • Instrument Rating (IFR)
  • First Class FAA Medical
  • VE7A Qualification
  • ATP Certificate to be obtained within 12 months of job start

Flight Experience Requirements

  • 2,000 Total Flight Hours
  • 1,500 Helicopter Flight Hours
  • 1,000 Hours PIC Helicopters
  • 500 Hours Turbine Helicopters
  • 100 Hours Unaided Night Operations - or -
  • 50 Hours Unaided Night + 100 Hours Night Vision Goggle (NVG)
  • 100 Hours Instrument Flight (Actual and Hood)

Additional Requirements

  • Maximum body weight: 235 lbs
  • Ability to assist with lifting up to 100 pounds during patient or equipment loading
  • Must pass pre placement physical, drug screen, and background check
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Interview and acceptance by management required
  • Annual flu vaccine not required
  • Candidates must reside within one hour of the base location

Schedule

  • 7 days on / 7 days off rotation
  • Day and night flight operations
  • Base schedule may rotate depending on operational needs
  • Off duty housing provided
