The Drilling Automation Training Specialist will be responsible for the training of new automation technology, specifically hands-on technical training for rig level employees. This position will be responsible for the development of training manuals and class materials, conduct surveys and evaluate training needs. This position will travel to all regions providing training support for new and existing technologies to develop the company's operational expertise for new product deployment. This role performs under the general direction of the Controls and Automation Manager. Detailed Description:
Provide employees with hands-on technical training on drilling rig control systems and automation applications Work closely with Product Development Managers and Controls and Automation Engineers to gain expert knowledge of automated products and controls Assess specific training needs and identify individual needs for improvement Meet with drilling rig personnel to determine overall effectiveness of training by soliciting to feedback and making improvements as necessary Perform basic to intermediate troubleshooting to identify dysfunction within a control system Document and communicate any system issues or recommendations for improvements to Product Development Managers and Controls and Automation Engineers Develop and facilitate additional classroom training, which may include large numbers of attendees Conduct "train the trainer" sessions Facilitate follow-up communications with employees and local operations management on progress around new product understanding and performance Perform Rig Audits to ensure that new employees are being developed and managed according to company expectations; coach and mentor rig crews on gaps identified on rig visits. Track appropriate training paperwork associated with field and classroom training Pull, track, and send out training reports to rigs to support monthly training initiatives

High level of energy and flexibility needed for a fast-paced environment Computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint, Excel and Word and the ability to run reports Ability to travel as needed to other offices and drilling rig work sites, requiring extended travel to remote locations and/or overnight stay(s) outside normal office area - Ability to safely navigate drilling rig work sites with occasional walking, climbing, standing, stepping, etc. during normal rig operating conditions (day/night, outdoor hot/cold weather) including proper use of designated personal protective equipment (PPE)

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED 5+ years of experience in the drilling industry 1+ years of experience working with Drilling Automation Products Ability to assess employee progress based on training and competencies
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional Details: This position requires the person to work in both office locations and outdoors in all types of weather conditions, including precipitation, cold / heat, high wind, and turbulent conditions and will be expected to properly use designated personal protective equipment (PPE). The position will be regularly exposed to the typical conditions of the local area where the drilling operations and rigs are located, often in remote locations. The person must be willing to work extended schedules, including extra days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
