Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough, consistent inspections on new vehicles from various manufacturers, including identifying minor and major impact damage, vandalism, factory defects, restraint failures, accident damage, weather-related damage, and transportation-related damage.
- Document and code damages as identified, providing damage verification codes to transportation carriers before vehicles are delivered to dealerships.
- Complete inspections in demanding outdoor environments and fast-paced, multi-organization facilities.
- Maintain responsibility for inspection quality, standard consistency, accurate data transmission, and timely completion of inspections.
- Interpret guidelines and make analytical inspection decisions based on Cox's defined standards. Inspections may occur on the ground, on railcars, or other transport equipment.
- Document and record vehicle damage using a handheld computer and digital camera.
- Identify physical auto damage and assist with root-cause analysis of transportation-related issues.
- Prepare routine written and verbal inspection reports as required.
- Transmit all inspection files upon completion.
- Perform additional duties such as locating vehicles, boarding rail cars and ships, and supporting related operational tasks.
- Maintain regular, consistent attendance and availability.
- Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Collaborate effectively with Cox team members and follow all procedures, safety protocols, and workflow standards.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Generally, less than 2 years of experience in a related field.
- Safe drivers needed; valid driver's license required.
- Excellent time-management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize daily responsibilities.
- Highly detail-oriented, focused, organized, and able to maintain energy and enthusiasm in demanding environments.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.
Preferred:
- General knowledge of automotive components. Cox will train motivated candidates.
- Automotive estimating or repair experience.
- Technical automotive training (ASE, I-CAR, etc.)
- Basic proficiency with computers and electronic devices, including email, uploads/downloads, and internet-based applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to research, interpret, and apply secondary data appropriately.
Physical Requirements & Work Conditions:
- Must meet all physical criteria required to complete vehicle inspection routines.
- Regular bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 25 lbs.), walking, standing, and climbing railcar and ship ladders.
- Must be able to work outdoors year-round (heat, rain, cold, snow, etc.).
- Must be able to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
USD 13.94 - 20.87 per hour
Compensation:
Hourly pay rate is $13.94 - $20.87/hour. The hourly rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's experience. In addition to the hourly range identified herein, this role is also eligible for an annual incentive/commission target of $6,000.00.
Benefits:
Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
