Description

The CNC Programmer is responsible for machine programming of CNC controlled equipment (waterjet, mills, lathes, etc.) This role supports tool selections, layout creation and updates, and CNC program writing and editing. The CNC Programmer duties include creation, testing and revision-control of CNC machine tool programs: establishing optimum CNC processes regarding selection of machines, fixtures, and tooling; determining ideal speeds, feeds, inserts, and tooling requirements; creating and maintaining accurate part holding, and specialized equipment. This exciting position will assist Manufacturing with planning for new products and continuous improvement of revised products and processes. The CNC Programmer position is instrumental in establishing programs that permit manufacturing of close tolerance parts to OEM drawing requirements.

What you will need:



  • High school diploma OR GED
  • Trade school, military, industry, and/or college training in CNC programming.
  • 5 yrs experience setting up and operating CNC programming and metal cutting
  • Ability to read detail design drawings and create corresponding CNC models/programs
  • Ability to program and edit CNC models at the machine
  • Solid understanding of geometrical dimensioning and tolerance, and knowledge of shop math
  • Working knowledge of waterjet, mills, and lathes.
  • Working knowledge of tooling, fixtures, and CNC machine operations/procedures
  • Ability to use inspection equipment
  • Proficiency In the use of the following software/ equipment: Solid works AutoCAD, Mastercam, FANUC controls
  • Basic computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and Internet websites.


Preferred Job Skills:



  • Associate of Science degree in engineering technology or another technical field
  • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Graduate of Certified Machine Trade Program
