Description & Requirements
Lead Business Systems Analyst - Finance Hybrid (2 days a week onsite)

The Broad Institute is a remarkable institution - we apply our deep knowledge of human genetics to empower a revolution in biomedicine and accelerate the pace at which the world conquers disease. Through our partnerships with MIT, Harvard, and the Harvard teaching hospitals, we've become a worldwide hub of cutting-edge biomedical science. We are committed to building and sustaining a culture that pursues and rewards intellectual curiosity and innovative thinking.

We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Lead Business Systems Analyst to serve as the functional lead for our SAP Finance modules and function as a direct link between the Controllers Office and our IT technical teams. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of General Ledger and Fixed Assets accounting, as well as Sales and Distribution acting as the bridge between our Finance department and the technical IT team working on continuous improvement and impact of our financial tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Functional Configuration and Support: Lead the configuration, maintenance, and enhancement of the SAP FI (Financial Accounting) module, with a heavy emphasis on the General Ledger and Fixed Asset sub-ledgers.

  • Requirement Gathering: Partner with Finance stakeholders to document business requirements, conduct gap analyses, and propose "best practice" SAP solutions.

  • Business Process Optimization: Work with Controllers Office and Internal Audit teams to streamline year-end and month-end closing processes through automation and improved system workflows.

  • Integration Management: Ensure seamless data flow between Finance and other modules, particularly overseeing how Sales and Distribution data flow to the Finance Ledgers.

  • Testing & Support: Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT), develop training documentation for end-users, and provide Tier 2/3 functional support for system issues.

  • Strategic Roadmap: Collaborate with the Controller and CFO's office to align SAP functionality with long-term financial goals and regulatory compliance (GAAP, Uniform Guidance, etc).

  • Implementations: Act as the Functional Lead for upgrades (e.g., ECC to S/4HANA migrations) or new entity rollouts, managing the full project lifecycle from scoping to post-go-live hypercare.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems (MIS) or related.

  • Minimum 4 years of experience as an SAP Business Analyst or Functional Consultant is required.

  • At least 3 years of "hands-on" accounting experience (e.g., Staff Accountant, Auditor, or Financial Analyst) is highly preferred.

  • Proven ability to perform functional configuration in SAP FICO.

  • Mastery of General Ledger (Parallel Ledgers, Document Splitting), Cash Management, and Fixed Assets.

  • Strong understanding of how FI integrates with CO (Controlling) and MM (Materials Management).

Preferred Attributes:
  • SD Integration: Experience with Sales and Distribution (SD), specifically regarding Pricing Procedures, Revenue Recognition, and how billing documents post to the GL.

  • Change Management: Experience with organizational change, including training departmental heads on new system capabilities.
