Overview

R&P is looking for a Senior-Level, Hands-on Technical Expert who wants to join our team. We are a defense contractor providing Engineering, Logistics, Program Management and Technical Services to government clients. We need a Senior Test & Integration Specialist (Topside Sensors Area Coordinator and Electronics Technician) ready to join a fast-paced and exciting work environment.

Responsibilities

This is a senior-level, hands-on technical expert role. The candidate will serve as the resident authority for the testing and integration of all top-side sensor systems on LHD/LHA class for amphibious ships. They are the primary interface between the shipbuilder, SUPSHIP, and NAVSEA, responsible for ensuring systems are installed, tested, and certified according to contract specifications.

This is a technical project leadership and validation position requiring deep, practical expertise.

Key Responsibilities & Scope of Authority

Test Program Management: Owns the entire testing lifecycle. Reviews, tracks, and holds final approval authority on shipbuilder and Government test procedures, Test Problem Reports (TPRs), and Test Change Proposals (TCPs).

Technical Problem Resolution: Acts as the lead troubleshooter and technical consultant for all electronic, electrical, and electromechanical sensor systems. Identifies, defines, and drives the resolution of all deficiencies.

Stakeholder Coordination: Serves as the central communication hub between the contractor, SUPSHIP, NAVSEA, ISEA/AITs, and other DoD agencies. Represents SUPSHIP at key meetings (Test Task Group, Configuration Change Control Board).

Configuration & Contract Compliance: Reviews ECPs, waivers, and SCNs for impact on testing and contractual compliance. Participates in resolving contract issues tied to system engineering.

System Certification: Manages the final certification process. Ensures all corrections are made and documented and prepares final certification reports for NAVSEA.

Supervisory & Mentorship: Provides expert guidance and support to the Local Total Ship Test Director and contractor personnel.

Qualifications

Core Technical Knowledge: Advanced, practical (not purely theoretical) knowledge of electronics, physics, and electrical systems. Must be able to read and interpret complex schematics and block diagrams.

Hands-On Systems Experience: Significant, progressive experience as a senior electronics technician, instructor, or mechanic. Experience must be on modern, digital, computer-controlled military systems, preferably naval.

Test & Integration Expertise: Demonstrated experience in the system-level installation, integration, and testing of complex electronic systems. Must be proficient with a wide variety of test equipment and diagnostic procedures.

Autonomy & Initiative: The candidate must be a self-starter who can operate with minimal supervision. This role requires making final technical decisions and taking ownership of project outcomes.

DoD/NAVSEA Familiarity: Working knowledge of DoD program structures, policies, and technical documentation (e.g., ECPs, TPRs, SCNs).
