Job Description:

The candidate will be responsible for improving data input and output extraction workflows within a widely used Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) solver that addresses complex aerodynamic problems across multiple flight regimes, from rotorcraft and aircraft to launch vehicles and reentry systems. This role provides a unique opportunity to enhance a tool relied upon by researchers and engineers across NASA centers and throughout the U.S. aerospace industry.

Approximate salary range for this position is $73,000-$100,000 commensurate with education and experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement efficient algorithms for grid compression and solution compression.
  • Explore approaches for a movable data extraction surface for wall modelling efforts.
  • Collaborate with the team to enhance the efficiency of the code framework.
  • Document findings and present them to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering. Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field;
  • Familiarity with CFD concepts.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C++, or Fortran.
  • Experience with High Performance Computing and MPI.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residence

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Fortran.
  • Familiarity with structured-grid CFD algorithms and applications
  • Experience with GPU programming.
  • Completion of a Master's or Ph.D. degree in a relevant field.
