Position Description

The Operations Director for Data Centers Americas Air Handling Units (AHUs) is responsible for the operational performance of the Data Center AHU products across dedicated plants and focus factories within shared plants. The role leads execution of manufacturing strategies that deliver worldclass safety, quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness. This position drives operational excellence, enables agile manufacturing, and ensures alignment between Plant Managers, Regional Operations, and the AHU team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as key member of AHU leadership team and lead operations performance across Data Center AHU manufacturing sites and focus factories in shared plants which have target revenue of >$500 million.
  • Provide clear direction, prioritize initiatives, and achieve operational KPIs across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Responsiveness.
  • Champion agile manufacturing as a strategic objective-including building product agnostic lines, driving, moving from AHU integrations to variable cost through outsourcing, as well as collaborating with design engineering on modular designs and design for manufacturing.
  • Drive implementation of LEAN, 80/20, and operational excellence tools to achieve best in class standards.
  • Collaborate closely with Plant Managers, Regional Operations leadership, and their AHU business teams to align goals, resources, operations strategy and execution.
  • Improve working capital by strengthening inventory management and material flow.
  • Optimize Product Life Cycle execution, including design transfer, launch readiness, field reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure strong internal controls, compliance with operating standards, and effective risk management.
  • Lead operations strategic plan and collaborate with AHU leadership team to develop and deploy annual strategic plan for the AHU business.
  • Lead annual operating planning for AHU operations and ensure alignment with business growth plans.
  • Strengthen customer relationships at the executive level to support growth and responsiveness.
  • Build organizational capability through talent development, succession planning, and fostering a culture of empowerment and accountability.

  • Drive continuous improvement across all assigned sites to achieve maximum productivity, efficiency, and profitability.
Required Education & Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing operations with increasing leadership scope (e.g., Plant Manager, Director of Operations, Supply Chain leadership).
  • 5+ years leading multi-site operations with measurable performance results.
  • Proven success implementing LEAN, 80/20, and operational excellence systems in demanding manufacturing environments.
  • Experience advancing automation, digital manufacturing, or other advanced manufacturing capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize operations during restructuring, plant transitions, or new plant startups.
  • Strong understanding of product life cycle processes, quality systems, supply chain management, and make/buy analysis.
  • Strong financial acumen, including cost management and operational profitability.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity, make sound decisions quickly, and inspire cultural change.
  • Experience working effectively in a global business environment.
  • Record of improving and running a business profitably with measurable operational achievements.
  • Trusted leader with a hands-on, accountable, and non-bureaucratic leadership style.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business is required. MBA preferred.

TRAVEL:

Up to 50% domestic travel required typically for remote candidates with the ability to plan in advance; up to 20% travel for candidates located out of one of our AHU plant locations.
