We are seeking a Junior Telecom / Avaya Specialist to support telecommunications operations on the OSDSS program. This role will primarily assist with Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs) for Avaya telephony systems across the organization. The selected candidate will work under the guidance of senior telecom engineers to help maintain and support enterprise voice infrastructure. This is an entry-level opportunity ideal for someone interested in building a career in telecommunications and unified communications. The role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow established processes, and a willingness to learn Avaya technologies and telecom support procedures.


Responsibilities

    Perform Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs) for Avaya telephony systems, including user provisioning, extension assignments, and feature updates.
  • Assist with configuration updates and basic administration within Avaya voice platforms under the guidance of senior telecom engineers.
  • Support user requests and service tickets related to telecom services, ensuring accurate and timely resolution.
  • Update and maintain telecom documentation and system records related to phone assignments, configurations, and inventory.
  • Coordinate with IT teams and end users to schedule and complete phone moves, installations, and configuration changes.
  • Assist with troubleshooting basic voice service issues and escalate complex issues to senior telecom staff when necessary.
  • Ensure all work follows established telecom processes, change management procedures, and security requirements.
  • Support telecom asset tracking and ensure equipment is properly documented and inventoried.
  • Participate in training and mentoring to develop technical knowledge of Avaya systems and enterprise telecommunications environments.


Qualifications

REQUIRED:
  • Exposure to Avaya telephony systems or enterprise voice platforms.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow documented technical processes and procedures.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Basic understanding of IT or telecommunications concepts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to learn technical systems and tools quickly.

DESIRED:

  • Experience supporting IT service tickets or help desk environments.
  • Basic understanding of VoIP, telecom infrastructure, or unified communications systems.
  • Experience working with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or similar tools.
  • Technical certifications or coursework related to IT, networking, or telecommunications.
