Job Family Finance Discipline Payroll and Benefits Accounting Career Level P2 Salary Range $59,040 - $82,788 Note for Salary This is the range within which SRNS expects the majority of qualified candidates would enter this role if offered. Actual offers may be more or less than the amounts shown depending on candidate's qualifications, experience, internal equity, and other factors. Job Family Description Finance personnel develop, implement, and maintain the financial plans and policies of the organization. They establish fiscal controls, prepare financial reports, advise management of financial affairs, and assist in long-range budgeting, planning, and forecasting. They establish and maintain financial policies and controls, fiscal controls, financial reports, and they safeguard the organization's assets. They maintain accounting and financial records and reports, including general ledger, financial statements, regulatory and management reports. Discipline Description Payroll and Benefits Accounting personnel prepare, document, and disburse payroll checks, payroll taxes and benefit payments . They ensure proper setup of employee deductions, garnishments, and union dues. They support fiscal and calendar year-end closing processes. They analyze the payroll and benefit information and balance accounts to ensure accurate year-end reporting of W2s and 1099s. They evaluate current systems and recommend and develop operating efficiency improvements. They monitor and ensure proper documentation of employee benefit payments. They may prepare reports illustrating payroll expenditures, including such items as tax payments and benefit plan disbursements. They manage insurance policy applications and payments and work closely with the IRS and Department of Revenue to ensure the company is properly registered to pay taxes in a timely manner. They perform analysis to forecast and budget benefit and payroll expenses. They work with Department of Energy for reporting of payroll and benefits contract deliverables. They support internal and external audit requests. They ensure the payroll and benefits accounts are monitored and reconciled on a monthly/quarterly basis. They support annual benefits open enrollment. They identify, analyze the cause, and implement controls to minimize and prevent wage and improper overpayments. They work with employees to administer employee benefit eligibility. They provide information to active and inactive employees related to benefits plans and different participant options. Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include: The selected candidate will be responsible for various payroll operations responsibilities. The role may include executing payroll activities in a timely and accurate manner. Key duties include processing employee paychecks, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and company policies, handling payroll discrepancies, maintaining payroll records, and addressing employee inquiries related to paychecks issued. The role may also involve calculating deductions, benefits, overtime pay and ensuring the proper functioning of payroll processing software to align with our processes. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and knowledge of payroll systems and labor laws are essential for success in this position. Security Clearance Information SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
