HJF is seeking a Jr. Instructor - Summer STEM Achievers Program with the assistance of more experienced Instructors, to prepare and deliver lessons in order that students increase knowledge of a specific subject (e.g. anatomy), provide guidance and mentorship to students.

This position will be in support of the STEM Achievers Program. As a Summer Junior Instructor, you are the spark that ignites student curiosity. Working side-by-side with the Head Instructor, you will help bring the STEM curriculum to life through active participation, hands-on guidance, and high-energy instruction. This role is ideal for a motivated educator-in-training who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about fostering a love for discovery in children.

This program will run from June 22, 2026- July 10, 2026, with required training from June 15, 2026- June 19, 2026.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.


  • Teach all course assignments as determined by the Head Course Instructor.
  • Execute the curriculum with high energy, integrity, and passion.
  • Interact with the children to support play, exploration, and learning.
  • Plan for instructional activities to include, but not limited to, lectures, class discussions, demonstration labs, and projects.
  • Submit on time and maintain accurate records of attendance.
  • Provide a classroom environment conducive to learning, establishing and maintaining classroom control.
  • Attend all meetings, ceremonies, and official functions as specified by the Program Director.
  • Implement and comply with university policies and guidelines concerning academic, student, and staff conduct.


Education and Experience

  • High School Degree or GED; Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a two-year or four-year degree.
  • Minimum of 0-2 years' experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge in relevant subject matter.
  • Basic understanding of learning theories.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Listening and observation skills to aid in identifying student struggles with learning course materials.
  • Organization and time management skills.
  • Willingness and flexibility to teach course sections as needed.
  • Working knowledge and ability to integrate technology into course delivery.
  • Demonstrate experience in teaching in a multicultural setting.
  • Evidence of current expertise and technical competencies in the appropriate field of study.

Physical Capabilities

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 25 lbs.

Work Environment

  • This position will take place in both a classroom and laboratory setting.

Compensation

  • The hourly pay rate for this position is $25.38.
