What We Need

As a member of the Cornell Dairy Foods Center and the Dairy Extension team, this Extension Support Specialist will be key in supporting the mission of these programs under the direct supervision of Dr. Nicole Martin, and will be responsible for:

Providing programmatic support to ongoing Dairy Foods Extension activities, including but not limited to: planning, organizing, implementing, recording, and reporting on workshops and other outreach activities. Additionally, providing programmatic support to the newly rebranded Cornell Dairy Foods Center (formerly the Northeast Dairy Foods Research Center), one of six national dairy foods centers established in concert with Dairy Management, Inc. in 1987. Support of key Center activities includes planning and implementing Center meetings (in-person and virtual), supporting Center Director initiatives, engagement with students and dairy industry stakeholders to promote the Center and ensure alignment with stakeholder needs. This position will be responsible for recording and reporting key program metrics, website maintenance, and social media presence.

This is a full-time (100% FTE) on-site, one-year appointment role with possible extension dependent on performance and funding.

  • Bachelor's degree, with 2-3 years of previous program support experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Visual concentration and manual dexterity are required.

  • Must be well organized and detail oriented.

  • Prior event planning experience

  • Previous experience with Web Based Learning (webinars/Zoom/Skype/Blackboard), Social Media - including facebook, twitter, instagram, and Online program evaluation tools.

  • Ability to lift 20-50 pounds.

  • Must have and maintain a valid and unrestricted NYS driver's license.

  • Must be able to occasionally work irregular hours.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint, Salesforce and e-mail.

  • Experience in collection of data and preparation of summaries and final reports.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills and organizational skills required.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships with a wide variety of students, faculty, staff, and outside clientele.

  • Experience that demonstrates sound judgment, creativity, management and problem-solving skills, and ability to work well within a team of professionals,

  • Ability to plan ahead and anticipate potential issues; strong ability for multi-tasking

  • Strong computer skills including Social Media managements, webpage management, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as other Microsoft Office programs.

  • Effective problem-solving skills and ability to change program objectives as needed.

  • Must be able to meet the travel requirements of the position, approximately 10-12 trips per year, including site visits, and off-site program coordination.

  • Ability to create an inclusive, high-quality and respectful work environment both in a team setting and independently to achieve departmental and university goals.

  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

  • Masters Degree

  • Prior experience working closely with undergraduate and graduate students.

  • Experience with Zoom, Skype, Microsoft Access, Sales Force, SQL server, and html applications.
