At Devon, the Planner is responsible for developing comprehensive maintenance plans for surface equipment and projects, ensuring all activities are strategically aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements. This role focuses on project scoping, resource planning, risk assessment, and continuous improvement of planning processes. The Planner collaborates with cross-functional teams to define work, allocate resources, and ensure all maintenance activities are well-documented and compliant with safety and environmental standards. As Planners progress, they are expected to demonstrate increasing expertise in maintenance activities and a working knowledge of the repair and intended operation of surface production equipment.

Foundational Responsibilities (All Levels):

  • Develops maintenance plans for new or moved surface equipment

  • Supports creation of maintenance schedules and documentation

  • Develops SOWs (Scope of Work) for maintenance tasks

  • Prepares SAP PM notifications and work orders

  • Ensures invoices align with cost estimates and jobs are properly closed

  • Documents maintenance activities in the system

  • Coordinates with DSC and Production teams

  • Reviews tasks and SOWs for risk ranking and communicates findings

  • Organizes and prioritizes assignments

  • Receives training and applies safety practices and production operations

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Works under direct supervision

  • Assists with foundational duties and receives training

  • Supports routine maintenance planning and documentation

Foundational Skills (All Levels):

  • Maintenance planning and project management concepts

  • SAP work order system navigation and transaction codes

  • SOW development and documentation

  • Microsoft Teams, Excel, and OneNote for coordination

  • Attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Safety and regulatory compliance awareness (JSA, LOTO, confined space, H2S protocols)

  • Cost estimation and invoice processing

  • Effective verbal and written communication

  • Power BI reporting and dashboard interpretation

  • Vendor relationship management and compliance monitoring

  • Equipment sizing/specification and resource allocation

  • Backlog management and prioritization

  • Environmental compliance and operational constraints

  • Field safety protocols and emergency procedures

Additional Skills:

  • Willingness to learn and develop foundational skills

  • Exposure to maintenance activities and surface production equipment

Education:
* High School Diploma/General Education Diploma (GED)/Higher Secondary education is required. Associate's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or any other related discipline is preferred.

Experience:
* 3+ years of relevant experience, preferably in E&P Operations specializing in areas such as Production, Completions/ Workover Processes, and Artificial Lift, Rod Pump, Gas Lift, and/or Plunger Lift Operations, Maintenance Planning, Scheduling, and Coordination, Project Management or a related field. Industry experience is preferred.
