Job Description

This position is only open to candidates currently pursuing their associates degree from a community college or trade school. Those currently pursuing their bachelors degree or higher will not be considered for this role.

Early Career Apprentice Program

Want to work in your field and train on the job? Join our 12-24-month apprentice program! You will earn and learn on the job, receive career guidance and mentorship, all while attending school. Allstate will also provide tuition assistance and hands-on training in customer service and claims processing.

Summary:
The apprentice creates high-level technical designs for low complexity projects and maintenance efforts by analyzing requirements and systems architecture, collaborating with technology partners and adhering to tool standards with some assistance. The apprentice assesses, documents, and mitigates design constraints and/or risks and performs design reviews to develop and support optimal IT solutions with some assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafts and edits operations, environment, and desktop documentation; gather input from other appropriate team members to create documentation

  • Participates in identifying technical process improvements; develops and maintains technical process and application process flows

  • Facilitates the resolution of system deficiencies with the design team and project management; support the business in researching technical questions

  • Supports the planning, conduct, and review of module and integration testing for low complexity projects; learn how to prepare the staging and development of test environments and conditions with some assistance

  • Creates the high-level technical designs for low complexity projects and moderate maintenance efforts by analyzing and tracing designs to requirements (business, functional, and nonfunctional) and systems architecture

  • Develops detailed estimates for low complexity projects; monitors and documents the technical progress of the project with some assistance

  • Validates code to designs and requirements; conduct code walkthroughs, inspections, and reviews with some assistance for low complexity projects

  • Provides the technical details, integration, and functions of a single application, hardware, and/or software within a team; documents practices with some assistance

  • Identifies systems and technical constraints, potential technology risks, and document possible mitigation strategies for low complexity projects with some assistance
