What to Expect
The Commercial Energy Service Business Operations team supports Tesla Energy by tracking KPIs, operational risks/opportunities, and delivering global reporting for deployed products. We're seeking a Manager, Data Solutions Engineering to lead our Data & Software Solutions efforts. You'll oversee data analysis for reporting needs, guide translation of business requirements into scalable project plans, and architect solutions for rapid growth. The team builds infrastructure to scale Service operations for a growing product portfolio and maintains data pipelines consolidating data from multiple systems into formats for reports, dashboards, and decisions. You'll foster cross-departmental relationships (e.g., Financial Operations, Field Service, Software & IT) to create maintainable, scalable solutions driving contractual compliance and customer satisfaction.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and mentor a team of Data Engineers and Analysts in designing, developing, and delivering scalable data/software solutions for stakeholder needs like product health and service excellence
  • Collaborate cross-functionally in Commercial Service Operations and Tesla Energy to build data products for serviceability, productivity, and fleet management
  • Prioritize fixes, features, and responses to balance urgent operations with improvements in quality, speed, and impact
  • Architect solutions for scale, performance, and maintainability, influencing application lifecycles
  • Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders and senior management; simplify complex operations to support partner objectives
  • Guide data analysis and requirement translation into modular project plans for efficient team execution and iteration

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years developing data solutions, with 3+ years managing teams, leading initiatives, mentoring, and creating technical growth plans
  • Expertise in SQL (e.g., MySQL, SQL Server, Vertica, Oracle) and tools like Kafka, Spark (Python/Scala); hands-on proficiency in Python/Java/Go, including libraries like pandas/NumPy for analysis and text processing
  • Track record optimizing pipelines with Airflow, handling petabyte-scale data, and using distributed frameworks (e.g., Spark, Hadoop)
  • Ability to convert business needs into testable project plans, architect modular scalable solutions, and define hypotheses with business impact
  • Strong problem-solving, project management, and analytical skills; passion for data-driven decisions and emerging tech; skill in triaging critical requests
  • Excellent communication for presentations to leaders; proficiency in tools like Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Confluence, and JIRA

    Expected Compensation
    $120,000 - $300,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
