Professional Practice Assistant or Associate Professor of Veterinary Professional Skills Instruction Requisition ID: 2026-10009 # of Openings: 1 Location: US-UT-Logan Category: Faculty Position Type: Benefited Full-Time Job Classification: Faculty College: College of Veterinary Medicine Department: Veterinary Clinical & Life Sciences Advertised Salary: Commensurate with experience Overview The Department of Veterinary Clinical and Life Sciences (VCLS) in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Utah State University (USU) is seeking applicants for a FY 12-month 1.0 FTE Professional Practice Assistant or Associate Professor of Veterinary Professional Skills Instruction position (non-tenure track) with an assignment of 95% teaching and 5% service. This candidate will play a pivotal role in introducing students to the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors tied to the development of their professional identity as future veterinarians. The candidate is expected to work with the team to design, develop, and deliver hands-on professional skills-related courses in the new Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree curriculum that centers around three programmatic learning outcomes for students:
The professional skills program also plays a supportive role in clinical reasoning and evidence based veterinary medicine. Course development is intended to support the spectrum of new graduate competencies that includes relationship-centered clinical communication, personal and business finance, resilience strategies, ethical decision making, professionalism and more.
